A woman looking happy with her breast augmentation=
Just when we thought we’ve answered every single question there is about breast augmentation in Reno, we get some new ones. And that’s great! We love it when potential patients ask us questions; it shows that they’re doing all the research before making a highly personal and life-changing decision.

If you’re considering breast augmentation and would like to know more, this FAQ can help you. Don’t find your question here? It might be in our earlier FAQ post. You can also contact us directly and schedule a complimentary consultation. We understand there are certain questions you might want to ask in private.

Anyway, let the Question and Answer begin!

How do I know if breast augmentation is right for me?

If you aren’t happy with the size, shape, symmetry, or projection of your breasts, then breast augmentation may be the procedure for you. Other candidates for this procedure include women who have lost breast volume due to pregnancy, weight loss, or aging and would want to restore fullness to their breasts.

Can breast augmentation be combined with other procedures?

This is a question best asked during your consultation with a Board-certified plastic surgeon, since the combination of procedures will depend on the overall look you want to achieve. Just to give you an idea, though: There are instances when I combine breast augmentation with a breast lift to give patients full bust enhancement.

How can I afford breast augmentation?

A ballpark figure for breast augmentation in Reno and in the surrounding areas would be around $4,000 to $6,000. It’s quite an investment to make, but there are various payment options to make cosmetic enhancements attainable. Here at Talbott Plastic Surgery Center, for instance, we offer cosmetic surgery financing through CareCredit®, a healthcare credit card specifically for one’s health and beauty needs. This allows our patients to spread out the cost of their procedures over a period of time. You can learn more about CareCredit® here.

Can I breastfeed after having breast augmentation surgery?

Breast augmentation alone should not affect your ability to breastfeed, unless it’s combined with other breast procedures like a breast lift (mastopexy). If you are just having breast augmentation, the implants wouldn’t affect your ability to produce breast milk. To minimize this risk, I place the breast implants under the muscle and the incision as far away from the nipple as possible.

Does the procedure leave scars?

The truth is, all surgeries leave scars. I make my incisions as discreetly as possible – beneath the breast, around the darker skin of the areola, or in the armpit – to minimize visible scars.

Am I too young for breast augmentation?

There are minimum age limits set by the FDA for cosmetic breast surgeries and the type of implants used. Saline implants, which are filled with sterile salt water, are approved for women ages 18 and older. Silicone implants, which are filled with silicone gel, are approved for women ages 22 and older. There are no maximum age limits for breast augmentation. It doesn’t matter if you’re in your 60s; you can undergo breast augmentation as long as you’re healthy.
